Today is my grandmother’s birthday. She died a couple years ago, but we would always joke that she was younger than her grandchildren, because technically, she only had a birthday once every 4 years which made her twenty-something. I’ve known a couple leap year babies and I find it interesting to know what day they celebrate their birthday on. My grandmother always celebrated on March 1st.

I’ve almost always been single or alone on Valentine’s Day, therefore it has been my least favorite day of the year. However, this is the first year in many, many years that I’ve had a Valentine, so I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was bubbly and telling everyone to have a happy Valentine’s Day, basically being one of those people I always complained about. I do think there should be a single’s day or something. I still have a special place in my heart for people that don’t have a significant other – by choice or not. On the other hand, I now don’t have a bad taste in my mouth when the thought of celebrating a loving relationship crosses my mind. I have more grace for couples now. Funny how God teaches us balance, huh?
